Proflight Zambia launched its new Emerald Season flight schedule this week (January 10, 2012). The annual change of timetable asees an increased number of flights from Lusaka to Mfuwe and Chipata, with combined flights serving both routes. The airline – Zambia’s only domestic scheduled service provider – will also add additional flights on its Mansa and Kasama route. Extra flights on the Ndola and Solwezi route have also been timed to link with South African Airways and Airlink connections. “As the seasons change our passengers’ flight requirements also change,” explained Proflight Commercial Director Keira Irwin. “We listen to those shifts in demand and schedule our aircraft accordingly.” The Emerald Season is so named to reflect the lush greenness of the Bush at this time of year, which is similar to the spectacular colour of Zambia’s famous green emerald gemstones. It is at this time of year that safari holidays also change in mood. Instead of the traditional baked brown landscape, which makes game animals easier to spot as they congregate around watering holes, the Bush comes alive with fauna and birds, as well as different species of other animals. Proflight’s additional Emerald Season flights to Mfuwe serve the world-famous South Luangwa National Park, while Mansa and Kasama flights give people a chance to explore farther afield.
